the RAIN

In Ethan's short 2 and half years we have been under EXTREME drought, so when it rains I think that he doesn't really know what to do.  Who am kidding, I don't know what to do either--it has been so long! Ethan and Daddy had a lot of fun on Friday evening playing in the rain. What started out as watching the rain, turned into walking around under the umbrella to full out playing in the rain.  Ethan had a blast--as you can see from the video below.

Maggie doesn't like getting wet.  She did venture out to use the restroom, but soon found herself under the car in the garage.

The Zoo today

Today we went to the zoo.  It was Avery's first visit.  She slept the whole time, but big brother had a great time.  It was warm, and I felt bad about keeping her in the warm carrier so she got to enjoy some of the animals also.

The zoo opened a dinosaur exhibit at the beginning of May.  If you haven't seen it yet (and you have a child that is in LOVE with dinosaurs) it is a must!  It was even cool if you don't LOVE dinosaurs.  The T-Rex was actual size.  It was amazing.  Some of them actually spit water.  It was pretty cute to see Ethan react to the spitting, because he didn't know it was coming.  I thought he was going to be scared, but he just got right in there and roared back.  The picture below is him watching in amazement.

This is the view that Chris and I saw most of the time at the zoo.  He is such a a handful but a cutie!

This is what Avery looked like most of her trip to the zoo.  She is 3 and a half weeks old.
This was Ethan during his first visit to the zoo.  He was actually awake for most of it, but I found the picture of him sleeping. Ethan was 3 and half months old.

newborn pictures

When Avery was two weeks old we had newborn pictures taken.  Buddie of Lovebud photography came to our house and took some amazing pictures.  There is a sneak peek of pictures on her Facebook page. All the pictures look great, and I know that when the rest of them are done, I am going to struggle pick my favorites out.

Muffins with mom

Ethan and I shared muffins together when I dropped him off at school.

This is him last year at muffins with mom.

This is what has been happening at our house the past couple days.  Ethan is feeling better.  He has his appetite back...as you can see from the pictures below.
He also really loves his little sister.

We spent time with Grandparents, aunts and uncles.

Avery Paige is home!

We have had a crazy 24 hours here are the McDonald household.  Chris, Avery and I got home from the hospital around lunch time yesterday.  Ethan came running down the driveway to me when I got out the car and gave me a huge hug.  It was super sweet, but my initial reaction was "You have a fever"--and he did. It started out low 100.7 and then climbed to 102.  So our house has been quarantined into sections.  Chris took Ethan to the doctor this morning. He is now on antibiotics--his ear and throat were both inflamed--and I think she was protecting Avery as much as Ethan.

Needless to say, Chris and I have had a CRASH course in parenting two kids.  There was no easing into it.  We have learned the art of tag teaming. But what does every sick little boy want--his mommy, and what does every three day old little girl need--her mommy.  I am doing pretty good.  Sleeping when I can and playing mommy--I just wish that I had four more arms. :)

Avery is doing great!  She is eating, sleeping, pooping--everything that a baby should be doing.  Before Ethan had to stay away from her, you could already tell he was in love with his baby sister.  Every time he hears her from across the house, he is concerned with what is wrong with her--it is usually time to eat! SO SWEET!

Can you tell they are brother and sister?
