Happy Birthday to Me!

Chris and I are so blessed to have this little guy in our lives. We love you, Ethan! Happy 2nd Birthday!

I can 't believe that our little man is two years old. It is amazing to watch how much he learns everyday. He talks nonstop. My absolute favorite is when he says "Tank You, Mommy". It is priceless. He loves to yell "Mommy" from the back seat, especially if I am driving.

He copies EVERYTHING that Chris does, including but not limited to, crossing his legs, whistle (but for Ethan it is just making a loud noise with his mouth), cleans his mouth with a napkin when Chris does, tells the dog no after Chris does..and many, many more.

He is a fun loving kid that really doesn't let anything bother him. Unless something is messy--another thing that makes him like his daddy. If he falls and cries--then he must be really hurt. He is a tough little kid that really has no fear. He seems interested in using the potty, has only done it once, but does ask to go. I think he just wants to flush the toilet.

He loves playing outside, playing with his trains, cars, and animals. He refuses to sit in any kind of high chair, which makes going out to dinner a challenge sometimes. He is a great eater. He really will try anything that we put in front of him. He loves milk, water, juice, and lemonade. He would eat pancakes at every meal if we would let him. I even have to have the people at the grocery store hide the box when the put it in the bag. He also loves pizza, Mexican food (especially guacamole) and fruit. He doesn't really care if something is spicy.

He adores Mickey Mouse and all the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse characters. He loves going to school, but loves staying home with Mommy and Daddy more. He will warm up to anyone, after a 5 or ten minute "I am not sure about this" attitude.

He loves to point out trucks, buses and fire trucks from the cars. If he could choose we would go everywhere in Chris's truck. He likes to sit up higher in the back seat. He takes great naps, even though I think if we would let him he would just continue to play all day.

We know he is going to be an amazing big brother in May.

Eating Cars pancakes while watching Cars 2
When it was time to leave for the zoo, Ethan didn't want to go because he was watching Cars 2. I told him we were going to go see the animals--and he jumped out of his seat. Of course he didn't forget the movie--we finished watching it on New Year's Eve.

We went to the zoo on Ethan's birthday. We visited the Elephants (by far his favorite) twice. It was a wonderful day.

Yup, that's my boy!

Later in the evening, Grandma and Grandpa Lehmann, Uncle Mike and Aunt Drew, Grandma and Grandpa McDonald, Uncle Tim and Aunt Sarah, and Great Uncle Eugene came over for a birthday dinner. It was a great 2nd birthday.

Christmas 2011

waiting for daddy to give him part of the candy cane
Got to love the train table..it has since become our "dining room" table.
We had a great Christmas. Santa brought Ethan a train table, which by far was the biggest hit. We visited both sets of grandparents on Christmas Day, so we had to start the day before Ethan was ready! We actually had to wake him up, I told Chris that this may be the last time that happens. :) Every present that he unwrapped, had to be opened that very minute. We could have spent hours opening presents. He must have been a really good boy.

We really enjoyed our Christmas and Christmas Eve. We had a wonderful time with family and friends and can't wait to share next Christmas as a family of four.

The best part of the morning was when he opened a present and Chris asked what it was. Ethan's response was "A box". Duh, Daddy!

Grandma and Grandpa M gave Ethan a horse. At first he was hesitant and after about 10 minutes he was going crazy.

Grandma and Grandpa L gave Ethan an easel to paint pictures. It is perfect!

He didn't cry!

Today we went to visit Santa at Bass Pro Shops. We really didn't have to wait super long and there was plenty of stuff to look at including a place to write you Christmas list to Santa.

Ethan was a big boy and didn't cry when Chris put him in santa's lap. Santa even let him hold the bell. What a big boy!

Always helping

Last night we went to Home Depot to buy flooring. Ethan is always wiling to help, even when he just gets in the way. It was super cute to see him helping Daddy drive the cart of boards.

Christmas Party

On Friday, Ethan had a Christmas party at school. Chris and I were both lucky enough to go. They had pizza, fruit, and capri suns. Not to mention the cookies and cupcakes. His teacher told me that he didn't want to take a nap, he just wanted to help her clean up after the party. Which sounds just like him. They also had a book exchange. He got two books, one with animals and one with trains. He is in heaven!

We are looking forward to Christmas this year. He is excited to see what Santa is going to bring him.

Christmas Program

On Wednesday Ethan became an elf and sang Jingle bells with his class in their Christmas program. He was super cute. He rang those bells and wasn't scared at all.

Driving...

On our trip out West, we stopped in Ozona, TX. It was a short 20 minute break to get "our" energy out. We enjoyed a snack and played some ball. Little did he know we had a lot longer to go on our adventure...

On our way to the mountains of Colorado, we stopped several places to get the energy out. I mean if driving 19 hours with a 18 month old isn't crazy enough--we walked down to the bottom of Carlsbad Caverns. Ethan did great. He sat in the backpack and towards the elevators at the bottom, we let him out to "explore". He gets so excited about things and we really enjoyed watching him in the cave.
We stayed the night in Pecos, TX. There isn't much, we had to drive an hour away to Odessa to have dinner. in between Odessa and Pecos, is Monahans State Park. It is huge sand dunes out in the middle of oil fields. It was so hot, we only stayed about 20 minutes, but it was fun running up and down the dunes. Ethan had a blast.

This is the sunset in Santa Fe. You can see the smoke from a nearby fire.

Pictures of Colorado coming soon...:)

Zoo Trip!

Today we went to the zoo. It was hot, but we still had a good time. Ethan really enjoyed himself, and loved looking at all the animals. The zoo wasn't really crowded, so Ethan got to run around. He did take a good nap when we got home. :) On the way home he was "telling" stories about the zoo. He was roaring like the lions and bears. It was super cute.
