Month Three

WOW…this month has flown by so fast!!! I can’t believe that my little boy is already three months old. He is growing so fast, and each day we fall in love with him more and more. Here are some highlights from the past month.

· Ethan weighs about 10 pounds. His carrier gets heavier and heavier each time I take it out of the car.
· He meet his Great Grandpa Lehmann.
· We went to see the animals at the zoo for the first time.
· We meet the Easter bunny at the mall. He didn’t cry—which was a relief. He looked so tiny in the Easter bunny’s arms.
· He talked with his grandparents in Denmark via Skype.
· Ethan made a new friend. J Chris turned on Sesame Street the other morning and Ethan got so excited when he saw Elmo. I think it is the colors and music, but Elmo seems to calm him down.
· He is starting to grab for things…toys, our shirts, my necklace and hair.
· He is sleeping really well at night on an average of 6-7 hours a night. Actually, he slept 9 hours last night…it was the first time that I went to check to see if he was still breathing. He was actually snoring logs in the crib.
· Ethan is “talking” and gurgling more and more each day. He smiles at us every day and it melts my heart each time. Me and my new friend

First Visit to the ZOO

Today we went to the zoo, along with half of the city. It was such a pretty day to be outside, and we wanted Ethan to visit the zoo. It started out bumpy, when it took an hour and fifteen minutes to find a parking spot. Chris was ready to turn around and go home, but he continued to look, just for Ethan. I told him that this is what parenting is...looking for a parking spot even though you would rather be home watching the basketball games. :) Look at those long necks. What do you think, dude?

What a day, I am exhausted.

Ethan was asleep when we got there...well, we had been in the car for a while. We walked over to the giraffes first. Chris got him out of the stroller, and he seemed to be upset ,and I thought oh no!!! But he woke up and even seemed to enjoy being outside and wore his hat proudly. Doesn't he look adorable? We then went to look at the elephants. He was fixed on what I thought was the elephants, but when I looked up, it was a bird that was in the tree. But hey, it was an animal and we were at the zoo. He took a couple naps and was awake for a while. It was fun day and we couldn't have asked for better weather.

We walked around some more and talked to him about the animals. I can imagine that in a few years, he is going to be running around telling us about the animals. That time will be here before we know it. When we got to the car I changed his diaper in the back, and then I asked him if he had fun today at the zoo...watch the video to see his answer.




What a GREAT day! I can't wait to go back.

Great Grandpa

This past weekend, Ethan met his great-grandfather. It was wonderful to see my grandpa interact with his great-grandson. Ethan just stared at him when he talked, and seemed to be hanging on his everyword. Great-grandpa will be 95 years old in a couple weeks. What a great memory! Also, Maggie enjoyed it too, Grandpa was there to play with her when she brought him a toy, and she was there to eat the rest of his tortilla during dinner.

Month Two

Ethan enjoying curling. He loved watching his first Olympics.

Ethan is two months old now. We went to the doctor this morning and along with four shots, she said everything looked good, and Ethan was doing well. He is 10 pounds and has grown an inch since his last doctor’s visit—thanks to the growth spurt during the last week. Here are a few more things that have happened in the last month…

• Ethan has found his lungs—and he is good at using them. Along with the lungs, he has “real” tears when he throws his fits.


• Ethan is sleeping well at night, an average 5 and half hours stretch before waking up to eat. He has figured out how to put himself back to sleep at night.—which I am really thankful for. He is also sleeping well during the day, lots of little cat naps, but usually a long stretch of time in the middle of the day.


• He LOVES his crib mobile. It is really cute to watch him giggle and giggle as it turns in circles.


• Ethan has also figured out that the fan turns in circles, too. He watches it along with the light—thank goodness we have a fan in each room of our house.


• Ethan is able to hold his head up at least at a 45 degree angle when he is on his belly. He loves for us to hold him the standing position. He is a great “stander”—it is really cute to see his head bobble—it looks like his is dancing.


• He has started “talking” more. He responds to my questions, and we have some great conversations while he is on the changing table.
