bluebonnets?

On Saturday we went to see the bluebonnets. We drove up 290 towards Brenham and stopped at the same field that we went to last year. I was excited this year, because Ethan was going to be able to stand up and run through them. Last year he was so little we had to prop him up.

The bluebonnet selection was sad, I guess between the yucky winter we had and the lack of rain we have had the past couple months, there was no sea of blue flowers to be seen.

Ethan had a good time, still. He loves to be outside! Here are a few shots from our outing, plus some from last year. Look at how much my baby has grown.

These two were last April.

15 months

Take all the chalk out, and put is back in.

What can I say?
  • Ethan is in CONSTANT movement,
  • he is happiest outside,
  • he is NOT a morning person (takes after me),
  • really love bananas and cheese balls,
  • will pick milk over juice or water,
  • doesn't really like getting to his car seat,
  • did I already mention loves being outside,
  • wants to climb on the furniture--although his legs are just a little too short,
  • likes getting dirty--but hates taking a bath,
  • has started to love books--if that was the only toy we give him is perfectly content, his favorite is Brown Bear, Brown Bear What do you see? Chris and I must read it at least 5 times a day.
  • he understands what we ask him to do, that doesn't always mean that he listens,
  • loves The Wheels on the Bus, I have bought it on Itunes--smartest move ever,
  • we have been ear, infection free for two weeks :) and go to the ENT in another week,
  • loves playgrounds--of course they are outside, even when he gets into ants,
  • says mama, dada, dog dog, book, ball, and will repeat things that we say, it is amazing how his vocabulary is growing each day,
  • weighs only 22 pounds (12 percentile) and is 30 inches tall (3 percentile), but that Lehmann/McDonald head is still in the 90th percentile, he is a small kid, but has the personality of someone twice his size, just yesterday I saw him butt his way through bigger kids to get to a toy, very determined,
  • he has turned into a toddler before our very eyes, including throw yourself on the floor tantrums in the store, home, school, etc. (he does get over it quickly though),
  • we are practicing walking in a straight line, only 6 months until October, I do have to say he is going to be the cutest ring bearer ever,
  • he loves taking things out and then putting them back again, and he is so methodical about it.

Happy 5th Birthday, Maggie!

Today is Maggie's 5th birthday. We went to the park, but to be honest, Ethan had more fun. Maggie just found the shade. :)

Spring Break 2011

I know that Spring Break was actually two weeks ago...to be fair, that is when I actually started this post. better late then never, I know that I have been starting a lot of my posts recently like that, but chasing around a toddler is hard work.

We started the week out, with two more ear infections, but by Tuesday we felt better and Ethan and I went to the mall and enjoyed Build a Bear and then some lunch in the food court. He wasn't really interesting in eating, he kept watching the big kids on the cars and spaceships. So, after I finished eating we went over there, and I put in him one of the cars. As you can see from the video, I tired to put my hand out to keep him from falling, but he pushed my hand away. He is a big boy now.

We also went to the Houston LIvestock Show on St. Patrick's Day. He had a great time. Each time a big cow would walk by, he would put his arm out and say "Oooooh!".

At the petting zoo
This is telling us that he was not ready to go yet. His face is priceless.

One day we helped Daddy plant a new tree new to the garage, replacing the tree that died this winter. Notice the dirt around Ethan's mouth. He also helped walk Maggie.

We busted out the Sand and Water Table that Ethan got for his birthday (THANK YOU Hartsfield and Pearson families!) It is easy to say that it was a HUGE hit. All three of us had a blast and to prove it we were all covered in sand for the rest of the day.

At the end of the week, we had a special and quick visit from Grandpa Lehmann, as he was on his way back to Denmark from California and Arizona.

March in Oklahoma

Last weekend we traveled to Oklahoma to celebrate Great Grandpa Mac's 80th birthday. We had a wonderful lunch and then enjoyed time with everyone, which included cake and ice cream. So, we all know that Ethan had a great time. The pictures below are Grandpa Mac with his grand kids and then the next one is him with his three great grand kids. Ethan enjoyed playing with the boys. Now that he is a little bigger, it was easier for them to play with him. They enjoyed playing chase around Aunt Linda and Uncle Brad's house. Also, Ethan loved pulling all the toys out--he is really good at that.

Braxton is taking a picture of Ethan. TOO CUTE!

While we were in Oklahoma, Great Uncle James got a new 55 inch TV. Which was great, but it was even better because E-man had a place to play. Until the big boys (and by big boys I mean--Chris and Jon) jumped on the box and flattened it. Ethan and I had a good time in the box.

Cute Boy waiting for the plane--he is such a good traveler.

it has been a long time...

Sorry, I haven't been here to post in a while. It is hard to believe that January and February are already gone. We have had a great two months, it is finally starting to get warm after such a cold winter. Ethan is really loves to go outside and doesn't really understand that Maggie gets to go out all the time and he doesn't, especially when it is 23 degrees outside. We have spent the last month and half battling ear infections. Plus fighting with new teeth, he is getting one of hie molars, and he has two new teeth on the bottom. He is about 21 pounds now, and is such a good eater. The only things he really doesn't like is carrots and yogurt.

He is doing a great job with walking, and is starting to run everywhere. He likes to talk, it is just in his own language. He still isn't saying much, just ma, da, uh oh!, and grunting to get stuff. He does understand a lot, such a smart kid.

There are three videos at the bottom, playing blocks with daddy, playing with his soccer ball, and helping in the yard. Ethan is becoming a little boy, more and more each day.

Ethan got his first hair cut this morning. He did such a good job--never got upset. His hair isn't curling in the back anymore. Such a handsome little boy!

Ethan started in the Toddler I class at school. He loves being with the bigger kids. He is eating his lunch at the table with the other kids, taking naps on cots, and interacting with kids his age. His teachers love him and tell me that he is a smart little boy.

Friday was Go Texan Day at Ethan's school. Isn't he the cutest cowboy in town?

Yesterday we did yard work. Ethan did a great job helping Chris. I spent most of the time making sure he stayed in the vicinity, so I am not sure how much I actually helped. But we tired him out, he slept until 7:45 this morning.

Playing outside...is E-man's favorite thing to do.
