Driving...

On our trip out West, we stopped in Ozona, TX. It was a short 20 minute break to get "our" energy out. We enjoyed a snack and played some ball. Little did he know we had a lot longer to go on our adventure...

On our way to the mountains of Colorado, we stopped several places to get the energy out. I mean if driving 19 hours with a 18 month old isn't crazy enough--we walked down to the bottom of Carlsbad Caverns. Ethan did great. He sat in the backpack and towards the elevators at the bottom, we let him out to "explore". He gets so excited about things and we really enjoyed watching him in the cave.
We stayed the night in Pecos, TX. There isn't much, we had to drive an hour away to Odessa to have dinner. in between Odessa and Pecos, is Monahans State Park. It is huge sand dunes out in the middle of oil fields. It was so hot, we only stayed about 20 minutes, but it was fun running up and down the dunes. Ethan had a blast.

This is the sunset in Santa Fe. You can see the smoke from a nearby fire.

Pictures of Colorado coming soon...:)

Zoo Trip!

Today we went to the zoo. It was hot, but we still had a good time. Ethan really enjoyed himself, and loved looking at all the animals. The zoo wasn't really crowded, so Ethan got to run around. He did take a good nap when we got home. :) On the way home he was "telling" stories about the zoo. He was roaring like the lions and bears. It was super cute.

Tubes...Finally

After a rough winter with ear infection after ear infection, Ethan finally got tubes to help drain the fluid from his ears. We woke up earlier Wednesday morning, and drove to Texas Children's Hospital. The first picture is him looking out over the med center. This day was the first day in months that it actually rained--who would have thought we would see rain again in Houston! He couldn't eat or drink anything, and his surgery wasn't until 9:15. We had to get there are 7:00, luckily the waiting room was stacked with toys. He never even realized that he hadn't eaten anything. He did great--Mom and Dad did too! There were no tears from him when the doctor took him from me. I couldn't watch as they walked him back. They said he was wonderful. He went in about 9:00, and by 9:45, they had come to the waiting room to get Chris and I. We got home about noon. I thought he was going to sleep most of the day, but as you can see from the last picture...that wasn't quite the case...

His Texas Children's scrubs were so big on him, but he looked super cute.Sleeping it off in Daddy's arms! 10:30 They told us he couldn't go home until he either ate a Popsicle, or drank two more ounces of juice. Chris and I couldn't get him to wake up. The nurse finally had to force feed him the Popsicle, so they could have our bed space for the next kid. :)

Back to himself by 12:30!

Summer Fun

Ethan and I have had a wonderful summer so far. So wonderful that I haven't had time (or energy--Ethan is in constant movement) to post anything. So this post is a little bit of everything that we have done. Grandma L. was here for three weeks, and we had a blast spending time with her. We took a couple trips to the Children's Museum, watched the Astros win (I know...shocker), did lots of shopping (including picking out a dress for Uncle Mike's wedding), painted, played at the park, and read lots of books. Here are just some of our pictures of our fun.

Ethan did great at the Astros game. We were worried that he wouldn’t sit still, but he cheered at all the right times, and he truly seemed to enjoy himself. He also enjoyed a chili cheese hot dog, and watching the game with Uncle Mike.

Ethan enjoying himself at the Children's Museum.

This is him saying, Grandma have you found a dress yet? I am ready to go!
